Mumbai: Woman Murders Lover, Dumps Body in Vasai Drain
In a sensational breakthrough, the Mumbra Police have solved a blind murder case and uncovered a shocking conspiracy involving a woman, her husband, brother and friend. Police said the woman allegedly conspired with the three accused to murder her lover and dispose of his body in a drain after stuffing it inside a drum.
According to police, the victim, Arbaz Maqsood Ali Khan, a resident of the Mumbra area, left his house on April 3, 2026, informing his family that he was going to Dadar to collect money. However, he never returned home. After repeated attempts to trace him failed, his father Maqsood Ali Khan lodged a missing complaint at Mumbra Police Station.
During the investigation, police analysed the Call Detail Records (CDR) and technical data of Arbaz’s mobile phone. The investigation revealed that the victim’s last mobile location was traced to Bhoidapada in the Vasai area. Police also found that the mobile location of Arbaz’s girlfriend, Mehjabeen, was detected in Vasai on the same day.
Police then summoned Mehjabeen for questioning. Initially, she allegedly tried to mislead investigators by giving evasive answers. However, during sustained interrogation, she reportedly confessed to the crime.
According to police, Mehjabeen disclosed that she had called her husband Hasan, brother Tariq and friend Mujjam Talib Pathan to Vasai. The four allegedly hatched a conspiracy to extort money from Arbaz and eventually kill him.
During interrogation, the accused allegedly revealed that they tied Arbaz’s hands and legs, brutally assaulted him using a plastic pipe, and later murdered him. In an attempt to destroy evidence, the accused allegedly stuffed the body into a green drum and dumped it in a drain at a secluded spot falling under the jurisdiction of Waliv Police Station.
Based on the accused’s statement, police recovered the victim’s body from the indicated location. On May 7, 2026, police arrested two accused identified as Mehjabeen Khatoon Ikram Shaikh and Tariq Ikram Shaikh.
Meanwhile, Mehjabeen’s husband Hasan and friend Mujjam Talib Pathan are absconding, and police teams are conducting searches to trace and arrest them.
