Tension gripped the Pelhar area in Nalasopara East on Saturday night after hundreds of residents gathered outside the Pelhar Police Station to protest the death of a young man named Shadaf. The demonstration created a charged atmosphere as angry locals and relatives demanded justice. Shadaf had suffered severe injuries during a violent clash between two groups that reportedly took place around 25 days earlier. Despite receiving medical treatment for several weeks, he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday. Following the news of his death, large numbers of people assembled at the police station, accusing authorities of failing to act swiftly against the accused persons involved in the incident.

The violent episode reportedly began in the Wakanpada locality of Pelhar following a minor argument between two groups. What initially started as a small dispute soon spiralled into a serious confrontation involving physical assault and sharp weapons. During the clash, several people were allegedly attacked with knives, leaving many injured. Shadaf and some of his associates suffered critical wounds in the attack and were rushed for treatment. Police officials from Pelhar Police Station had registered a case soon after the incident was reported. However, according to local residents, the investigation did not progress quickly enough despite the seriousness of the assault and the injuries sustained by the victims.

For nearly 25 days, Shadaf remained under intensive medical care at a hospital in Mumbai while doctors attempted to save his life. Despite continuous treatment, his condition reportedly remained critical and he eventually died on Saturday due to complications arising from the injuries. After his death, furious family members and supporters transported his body in an ambulance directly to the Pelhar Police Station as a mark of protest. Demonstrators surrounded the premises and raised slogans against the police administration. Protesters alleged that officials had shown negligence in handling the case and failed to arrest the main accused even though an FIR had already been registered weeks earlier.

The protest created significant unrest in the locality, prompting senior police officers to intervene and calm the agitated crowd. Authorities held discussions with the protesters and assured them that the matter would be investigated thoroughly and fairly. Police officials also stated that all individuals involved in the violent clash would be identified, arrested, and dealt with strictly under the law. The assurances eventually helped ease tensions outside the station. Residents, however, continued demanding swift action and justice for Shadaf’s death. The police administration has now intensified the investigation, while security in the area has also been strengthened to prevent any further disturbance or escalation of tensions.
