Thane Fire: Blaze Erupts at Mahavitaran Power Distribution Unit in Wagle Estate, No Injuries Reported

A fire broke out during the early hours of Monday, May 4, at an electrical distribution unit in Dnyaneshwar Nagar, located in the Wagle Estate area of Thane West. The incident prompted an immediate response from emergency authorities after the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Disaster Management Cell received information about the blaze at around 2:55 am. Officials stated that the fire occurred at a Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (Mahavitaran) distribution point situated close to a police chowki in the locality. Soon after the alert, fire brigade teams rushed to the spot with a fire engine and a rescue vehicle to begin firefighting operations.

Along with the fire brigade personnel, Mahavitaran officials also arrived at the site to assist in controlling the situation and ensuring that all safety procedures were followed properly. Authorities confirmed that the flames were successfully brought under control and completely extinguished by around 3:20 am. No injuries, casualties, or damage to nearby structures were reported in the incident. Officials have not yet determined the exact reason behind the fire, and further investigation is expected to ascertain the cause of the blaze. The timely response by emergency teams helped prevent the fire from spreading further in the densely populated area.

In another incident, a fire broke out in construction material stored near the premises of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in south Mumbai on Saturday. According to officials, the blaze erupted at a Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) worksite near platform number 18 on the Kalyan-end side of the station. The authority is currently constructing a new Divisional Railway Manager’s office as part of the CSMT World Class Station redevelopment project. Fire brigade teams managed to bring the blaze under control, while cooling operations continued to prevent any fresh flare-up. No injuries were reported in the incident, officials said.
