A heartbreaking incident has come to light from the Vasar area near Ulhasnagar in Maharashtra, where a two-year-old child died after allegedly being run over by a garbage collection vehicle. The deceased child has been identified as Shivam Rathod. Following the incident, Hill Line Police arrested the vehicle driver, identified as Swapnil Lad.

 

According to information received, garbage collection work was being carried out in the Vasar area by KDMC. The municipal corporation had reportedly awarded the contract to a private company named Sumit Alco for the waste collection work. During the operation, two-year-old Shivam Rathod allegedly came under the garbage collection vehicle and was severely crushed.

 

The child sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot in the tragic accident.

 

The incident has cast a pall of gloom over the area, while local residents have also expressed anger over the mishap. Upon receiving information, Hill Line Police rushed to the spot, conducted a panchnama, and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

 

Police have registered a case against garbage vehicle driver Swapnil Lad and arrested him. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the accident.
