In a bid to streamline passenger movement and enhance commuter safety, Western Railway has rolled out a new crowd-management system at Nalasopara railway station. The initiative aims to tackle heavy rush-hour footfall and make the boarding process more orderly for daily commuters. Nalasopara station routinely witnesses massive crowds, particularly during peak hours, often resulting in pushing, arguments and confusion on platforms. To address these challenges, railway authorities have introduced a trial queue system.

As per a report in Loksatta, the system has been in place on Platform No. 1 since February 18. Under the new arrangement, passengers are required to form two queues while waiting to board local trains and must allow all commuters to disembark before entering the coaches.

To ensure smooth implementation, additional security personnel have been deployed. A total of 22 staff members — 13 from the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and 9 from the Maharashtra Security Force (MSF) — have been stationed at the platform. These personnel have been mobilised from nearby stations including Virar, Borivali, Bhayander, Vasai Road, Palghar and Dahanu Road. Railway officials believe the move will significantly improve crowd control and passenger safety, particularly when already crowded trains arrive at the station.
