Maharashtra Municipal corporation elections were held on January 15, 2026 and vote counting was held on next day January 16, 2026. In this ruling Mahayuti BJP-Shiv Sena Shinde emerged largest alliance to gain more wards in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, winning 118 wards out of 227. BJP alone won 89 wards, while Shiv Sena managed to get 29 wards in Mumbai. In this election 22-year-old woman has won BMC election. 

Kashish Fulwaria was a candidate for the BMC election from Ward No. 151 on a BJP ticket. Kashish is the youngest candidate to win. She secured 13,606 votes with a massive lead against NCP’s Vandana Sable, who got 7,304 votes. While sharing her experience, Kashish thanked all the workers who worked hard for making her win. She also thanked everyone who voted for her. Talking about the plan and representing the ward after winning the election, Kashish told ABP Majha, "My father is an ex-corporator and I will be taking advice from him."

Kashish is 22-year-old graduate and is currently pursing her MBA, she is following her parents footsteps as they are part of this career from decades. Kashish said that I was expecting that people will show so much love from residents from my ward. I am thankful for Mahayuti- BJP for giving me chance.

Voting was held on 2,869 seats across 893 wards of municipal elections in Maharashtraincluding Mumbai’s Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Thane, Kalyan-Dombivli and Mira Bhayandar, and others on Thursday, January 15, and the counting of votes was held on Friday, January 16.  The Maharashtra corporation elections were held after a gap of nearly nine years. The last polls were conducted in 2017, when the undivided Shiv Sena emerged as the single largest party in alliance with BJP in BMC, which is India's richest municipal corporation.
