6 family members suffer food poisoning

Nagpur/Narkhed, June 29

Six members of a family suffered from food poisoning after consuming mango shake and Puran poli at Parsodi (Raut) in Narkhed tehsil on Tuesday June 29 afternoon. The patients included four children. All of them are undergoing treatment at Nagpur Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Gangadhar Dhurve, son Ankush Gangadhar Dhurve (30), daughter-in-law Seema Ankush Dhurve (26), granddaughter Bhavika Ankush Dhurve (3), grandson Bhavesh Ankush Dhurve (11 months), grandson (daughter’s son) Vedansh Bablu Uike (11) and Sumit Bablu Uike (5) all were at Parsodi (Raut) when the incident happened.

Gangadhar Dhurve’s daughter had come to his house along with her two children and he treated them with feast of mango shake on Monday night at dinner and Puran poli on Tuesday morning for lunch. Around 12 o’clock, after the meal was over, all six of them started experiencing symptoms like stomach ache, vomiting and tingling in the forehead. Therefore, all of them were immediately brought to the rural hospital at Narkhed and treatment was started. As their condition was critical, after providing first aid, they were sent to GMCH in Nagpur. Doctors informed that all of them are stable but condition serious.

What exactly caused poisoning?

Gangadhar Dhurve’s daughter came to pick up her son at her parents house and so a feast was arranged for everyone and mango shake and Puran poli was prepared. However, nothing happened to Gangadhar Dhurve’s wife and daughter. The health of others, however, began to deteriorate. The medical superintendent of the rural hospital Dr Vankadas and Dr Dhande informed about food poisoning, but they were not sure, what exactly might have caused the poisoning.
