Nagpur, May 29:

Absconding Amarinder Bagga has been arrested by the Crime Branch police, who was demanding a ransom of `68 lakh from an senior citizen and fruit vendor by registering his plot on fake documents.

He has been presented in court and taken into 3-day PCR. On November 3, a case of cheating was registered against Bagga, Prashant Sahare, Ashok Khattar, and Gurupreet Singh Renu. After which the police also arrested all the accused and Bagga’s father-in-law, but Bagga had escaped.

A few days ago the Crime Branch police got a clue of him being in Nanded, post which he was arrested from Nanded and brought to Nagpur.

The senior citizen fruit vendor Tanwarlal Chhabrani (75), had bought a plot from Sangeeta Rahate in Wathoda in 2014 for `53 lakh. On 1 October, Chhabran’s employee saw Gurupreet Singh’s board on the plot. Since then, the accused were threatening Chhabrani. The accused demanded a ransom of `68 lakh rupees from Chhabrani. He then lodged a complaint with Wathoda police station.
