Three women were killed after being struck by lightning while two others were injured. The incident took place in Shiva area coming under Kondhali Police Station on Sunday evening at 6 pm.

According to police sources, women workers were on farm to pluck cotton on a farm of Shravan Ingle in Shiva area. The sky became cloudy in evening. The women took shelter below tree after rains started. Suddenly a lightning struck five woman workers and severely injuring them.

The injured women were shifted to Wanadongri (Hingna) based Lata Mangeshkar Hospital with the help of local people. The doctors declared Archana Umesh Tatode (35), Sharda Dilip Uikey (36) and Sangeeta Gajanan Mungbhate (35) dead after medical examination. The injured women are Panchfula Asole (36) and Satyabhama Shravan Ingle (37). All woman workers were residents of Shiva village. Kondhali police has registered a case. Further investigation is on under the guidance of police station officer Shyam Gavhane.
