Manoj Chavan won the silver medal in javelin throw with an effort of 65.67 meters. The gold medal was won by Dharanidharan of Tamil Nadu with a throw of 69.48 meters, while Karnataka’s Kalloleppa Bandiwadd secured bronze with 64.55 meters. Manoj had won the gold medal at the national javelin competition last year.
Mitali Bhoyar won the bronze medal in the women’s 5000-meter race with a timing of 17 minutes 09.66 seconds. The gold medal was won by Aarti Pawar of Maharashtra with a timing of 17 minutes 06.69 seconds, while the silver medal went to IOCL athlete Sanghamitra Mahat, who clocked 17 minutes 08.99 seconds. Mitali had earlier won a bronze medal in the 1500-meter race at the All India Inter-University competition and secured fourth place in the All India Inter-University Cross Country Championship.
Aniket Nalawade secured the bronze medal in Group D of the 100-meter sprint with a timing of 10.79 seconds. The gold medal was won by Shandosh P of Tamil Nadu with 10.61 seconds, while Maharashtra’s Vineet Dinkar claimed silver with 10.76 seconds. Earlier this year, Aniket had finished first in Group B of Indian Series-4 while recording his personal best timing.
Dhanashree Kamthe finished fourth in the women’s 100-meter sprint. Last year, she had won a medal at the Ashwamedh Sports Competition.
Pratik Kanhere finished sixth in the 800-meter race. Last year, he had won a silver medal in the 800-meter race at the Ashwamedh Sports Competition and secured seventh place at the All India Inter-University Athletics Championship.
Samir Tong finished seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase event with a timing of 8 minutes 59.92 seconds, informed district association secretary Dr Sharad Suryawanshi.
Aniket and Manoj are members of the state government’s sports academy and have been trained by Shamsher Khan. Mitali and Samit received guidance from coaches Ravindra Tong of Track Star Athletics Club and Umesh Naidu.
The athletes were congratulated by district association president Gurudev Nagarale along with Nagesh Sahare, Umesh Naidu, Shekhar Suryawanshi, Dr Sanjay Chaudhary, Ramchandra Wani, Archana Kottewar, Dr Vivekanand Singh, Jitendra Ghordadekar, Harendra Thakre, Sunil Kapgate, Amit Thakur, Chandrabhan Kolte, Vandev Thakre, Dr Brijmohan Singh Rawat, Kamlesh Hinge, Rajesh Bhute, Harendra Thakre, and Ganesh Wani.
