A social security team of the Crime Branch raided a brothel in Wathoda on Monday evening. During the raid, four prostitutes, along with three minor girls were rescued from the den. Police arrested a woman named Archana Shekhar Vaishapayan. She has been running this business for the last several months.

Initially, she was running a brothel in Ajni and later in a rented flat in Bahadura area. She has several prostitutes in her contact. When the landlord became suspicious, he asked her to vacate the house.

Two weeks ago, she rented a house in Wathoda for `8,000 per month and deputy commissioner of police, Crime Branch, Gajanan Shivling Rajmane got the information that she runs a prostitution racket form their. He immediately ordered action.

Accordingly, senior police inspector of the social security department, Ravi Nagose set a trap on Monday evening. Archana was approached by a police punter. Archana confirmed to make available minor girls for sexual intercourse if they were given two thousand rupees.

Accordingly, the customer paid Archana `2,000 around 5 pm on Monday. Archana then brought four prostitutes, including three minors and a young woman. One of them was taken to the room by a customer.

Police raided the place immediately and accused Archana Vaishapayan was arrested and the statements of the four prostitutes were recorded.

According to the preliminary investigation, Archana, who was charging `2,000 per customer, was giving only `500 to the prostitute and use to keep the remaining `1,500 (75 percent) of the money with her. Archana was booked under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) PITA Act 1956. The operation was led by senior police inspector Ravi Nagose, police sub-inspector Mangala Harde, constable Anil Ambade, Nayak Sandeep Changole, Bhushan Zade, Ajay, Chetan, Pratima and others.

Archana was produced in the court by Wathoda police station in-charge Ashalata Khapre and she has been remanded to police custody remand (PCR) till May 20. Police are investigating further. It has been learnt that she has a long list of prostitutes, girls and customers in her possession.
