On the fifth day of ‘Navtapa’ the mercury soared to 43.9 degrees Celsius. For the first time in this season, the mercury has reached one degree above normal. It was sunny throughout the day with sporadic clouds in-between.
But after 4 pm, weather started changing and black thick clouds appeared in the sky. It started raining at around 6.30 pm. After the rain, it become more humid.
According to the Meteorological Department, it will be sunny through the day, the sky will be cloudy in the evening. Drizzle is also expected to occur with strong winds. The mercury will remain around 44 degrees.
Due to the Yaas storm in the Bay of Bengal, humidity entered the skies of Nagpur. The humidity at 8.30 am was 56 per cent. Due to rain in the evening, the humidity reached 59 percent.
Vidarbha began to heat up
For the first time in May this year, the mercury rose 4 degrees to 46.2 degrees Celsius in Chandrapur district of Vidarbha in 24 hours. Mercury remained 45 degrees in Brahmapuri. In Nagpur too, the mercury touched 43.9 degree Celsius. In such a situation, it is sure to be hot in the city for a day or two.
Timely monsoon
Looking at the activities of the monsoon, experts say that the monsoon clouds will reach Nagpur in time. Monsoon rains are expected between June 8 and 10.
