A 36-yr-old youth from Rajapeth, Hudkeshwar was arrested by Crime Branch (CB) for stealing cars and running a travels agency using them. The accused has been identified as Mahendra Chake.

According to information, Chake use to work as driver with Jitu Travels, Near Sai Mandir, owned by Dharmendra Rohikar, but left the job around 18 months ago and started his own travel agency. He was operating his business from home, but the business was not doing that well, as he did not own any cars. He stole a car from Rohikar in March 2019 and changed its registration number plate and started renting it out. He then planned to stole Rohikar’s Innova.

Chake use to visit Rohikar’s travel agency and somehow got hold of the Innova keys and was waiting for a chance to stole Innova and he stole the Innova as well. The Dhantoli police registered a case on the complaint of Rohikar and the CB also swung into action and they got to know about Chake’s involvement in the theft. Crime Branch arrested Chake and interrogated him. Chake confessed to stealing the car and Innova. Both the vehicles were recovered and confiscated from him and Chake was handed over to Dhantoli police.

The whole operation was conducted under the guidance of ACP Sunil Fulari, DCP Gajanan Rajmane by PI Gajanan Kalyankar, PSI Mayur Chourasia, Zadokar, Narendra Thakur, Praveen Rode, Ravi Ahir, Kunnal Masram, Suhas Shingne, Suraj Bhongade, Ashish Patil, Naresh Deshmature and Sudhir Pawar.
