A woman working at a hospital in Maharashtra's Nashik lost her life after her head got stuck in a small lift. Disturbing CCTV footage of the incident surfaced online, showing signs of negligence.
The deceased, identified as Jyoti Shivaji Ahire (50), one of the contract employees of Dr Vasantrao Pawar Medical Hospital, College and Research Centre, was peeping inside the dumbwaiter lift at the time of the incident. The incident occurred at around 10.30 AM on Monday, April 27.
In a 3.36-minute CCTV video, it can be seen that Jyoti, who was working in the surgery department, leaned into the freight elevator commonly used to transport surgical equipment, to see whether the elevator was going up or down. Suddenly lift came down from up and her head got stuck in the elevator.

Further in the video, hospital staff came running to rescue the woman's staffer, but they struggled to pull her head out of the elevator. However, they were unable to free her head immediately. She remained stuck for several minutes before being rescued and rushed to the intensive care unit (ICU).
According to the police, she put her head inside to see whether the lift was moving, when it suddenly came down, causing severe head injuries to Ahire. "She succumbed to injuries,” police said.
A case has been registered with the Adgaon police station, and further investigations are on.
