Nashik Water Crisis: CIDCO Residents Protest as Shortage Persists Despite Full Mukane Dam; Confront MLA, Commissioner

The drinking water crisis in Nashik’s CIDCO area has worsened, leading to frustration among residents. With Mukane Dam full, citizens question why they still face water shortages. On Friday (28th), MLA Devyani Farande, accompanied by former corporators and residents, stormed the office of Municipal Commissioner Manisha Khatri, demanding immediate action. In response, the commissioner announced a direct inspection of the water supply system on Saturday (1st) to identify the root cause of the issue.

During the meeting, residents and corporators raised serious concerns about why CIDCO water tanks are never filled, why there is no pressure in water pipelines, why supply valves are locked under certain officials' orders, and why water department officials are not answering calls. The unequal water distribution has further angered citizens, with some areas receiving abundant supply while others face severe shortages. Complaints of contaminated water supply have also added to the residents’ woes.

Taking serious note of the situation, Commissioner Khatri assured us that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the disruption. MLA Seema Hiray also urged the administration to find a permanent solution to the ongoing water crisis. Meanwhile, corporators questioned why water from Mukane Dam, meant for CIDCO residents, is being diverted elsewhere.

The issue has sparked massive unrest, and citizens are demanding an urgent resolution. With the commissioner’s inspection scheduled, residents now await concrete steps to restore and stabilize water supply in CIDCO.

City Engineer Sanjay Agarwal, Rashmi Hire, Mukesh Shahane, Bhagwan Donde, Shyam Badode, Kalpana Chumble, Alka Ahire, Pratibha Pawar, and other officials from the Water Supply Department were present at the meeting.
