Bengaluru, Oct 25 The officials of the Department of Customs in Bengaluru have rummaged through a flight that arrived from Abu Dhabi and recovered one kg of gold bar in a black pouch hidden in the washroom, according to an official statement on Wednesday.

The statement read, “On Oct 24, 2023 officers of Air Customs, Bengaluru rummaged flight EY 238 which had arrived from Abu Dhabi. During rummaging gold paste wrapped in a black pouch was found hidden in the aircraft washroom. 1331.66 grams of gold worth Rs 80,21,920 lakh was recovered.”

Earlier, the officers of Bengaluru Air Customs intercepted four passengers who arrived from Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and Colombo on October 22 and seized approximately three kg of gold worth Rs 1.76 crore. Two passengers were arrested and further investigation was on.

On October 21, 1.133 kg gold of value of Rs 67.57 lakh along with one iphone 14 pro max worth Rs 1.49 lakh were seized by Bengaluru Air Customs from three passengers.
