The Election Commission of India on Friday announced the schedule for the 2021 Kerala Assembly Elections. The single-phase election in Kerala will take place on 6th April 2021 and the counting of votes will be held on 2nd May 2021. Kerala has 140 Assembly seats. The term of the Legislative Assembly of Kerala will come to an end on 1st June 2021.

In the 2016 Kerala Assembly Elections, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) had won 58 seats, Congress – 22, Communist Party of India – 19, Indian Union Muslim League – 18, Kerala Congress (M) - 6, Janata Dal (Secular) -3, Nationalist Congress Party - 2, Bharatiya Janata Party – 1, Others - 11.

Key Dates in Kerala

The single-phase election in Kerala will take place on 6th April 2021

The counting of votes will be held on 2nd May 2021.

Date of notification: March 12

Last day of nomination: March 19

Last day of withdrawal of candidature: March 22

By-election to the Malappuram Lok Sabha seat will also be held on April 6.
