Elections to four states and one Union Territory is set to be held over the next few months at a time when the coronavirus pandemic is somewhat under control, thanks to the central government’s mega vaccination drive. Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam and Puducherry are heading into a cracker of an election season starting April, the final dates for which has been announced. In Puducherry, however, President’s Rule has been imposed after the V Narayanasamy-led Congress government resigned earlier this week ahead of a vote of confidence.

Date of poll – April 6

The counting of votes will be held on 2nd May 2021.Date of notification: March 12

Last day of nomination: March 19

Last day of withdrawal of candidature: March 22
