Bengaluru Horror: Woman Burns Boyfriend Alive After Fake ‘Proposal’ Plan
A 27-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly killing her boyfriend in a shocking and premeditated manner in Bengaluru. Police said she lured him to a house by promising a “western-style proposal,” creating a false sense of excitement and trust. The accused, identified as Prerna, had been in a relationship with the victim, Kiran, for nearly two years. Both were employed at a private telecom company. The disturbing incident has sent shockwaves through the locality, raising concerns about the circumstances that led to such a brutal act and the planning involved behind the crime.
According to investigators, the incident took place on Tuesday afternoon at a residence in Anjananagar, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Byadarahalli Police Station. Kiran arrived at the location around 2 pm after being invited by Prerna. Believing he was about to be part of a romantic surprise, he willingly complied with her instructions. Police stated that the accused used the idea of a staged proposal to manipulate him. The setting appeared normal at first, but the situation quickly escalated into a deadly and carefully orchestrated crime that ultimately led to his tragic death.

Police revealed that the woman had meticulously planned the murder in advance. She allegedly blindfolded Kiran and tied him to a chair, convincing him it was part of the surprise arrangement. When he expressed concern, she reassured him to maintain his trust. Investigators said she then removed his clothes and distracted him before pouring petrol and kerosene, which she had procured earlier. Moments later, she set him on fire. The victim died instantly at the scene. Authorities described the act as deliberate and calculated, highlighting the extent of preparation involved in carrying out the crime.
During the investigation, police recovered a video of the incident from the accused’s mobile phone, which has now become crucial evidence. Initially, Prerna claimed she had been in the bathroom and discovered Kiran had set himself on fire after she came out. However, inconsistencies at the crime scene raised doubts about her statement. Officials said that while it initially appeared to be a case of suicide, further examination clearly indicated it was a murder. A senior officer confirmed that the evidence and sequence of events contradicted her version of the incident.
Further inquiries revealed that Kiran had arrived at the house on his motorcycle carrying only a bag and no flammable materials, weakening the suicide theory. Police also confirmed that the fuel used in the crime had been purchased by the accused beforehand. Investigators noted that the couple frequently argued, with Prerna suspecting that Kiran was becoming distant. Authorities are now examining whether there were additional motives behind the crime and if any other individuals were involved. Senior officials visited the scene, and a murder case has been registered as the investigation continues.
