Bengaluru: In an unexpected turn of events, man allegedly killed woman from Assam after she pressured him to marry her. After killing he disposed her body in lake. According to PTI reports, body of the woman, who hailed from another state, was found in Tirupalya Lake within the limits of Hebbagodi police station on May 9, Saturday.

According to reports, On May 9, police found a woman's body in a lake and initially filed a case of unnatural death at the Hebbagodi Police Station because the circumstances were suspicious. After a postmortem and doctors' analysis, it was determined she had been strangled and suffocated.

Police then registered a murder case. Based on evidence, Ratan Das was found and arrested at his home in Tirupalya, Anekal taluk, on May 14. Investigators determined Das knew the victim well. During questioning, Das allegedly admitted to having an affair with the woman and killing her because they frequently argued about her wanting to get married.

Police stated he strangled and suffocated the woman, then disposed of her body in dense lakeside grass. He was remanded in judicial custody after a May 15 court appearance.
