In an unexpected turn of events, a wedding was reportedly called off by the groom’s family, who initially claimed that the bride had “less hair.” However, the matter later took a different turn after allegations surfaced that the engagement was actually broken because the bride’s family was unable to fulfill certain demands made by the groom’s side. This outrageous and shocking incident occurred in Muzaffarpur, Bihar.
According to reports, groom family demanded a WagonR car as dowry, however, when the bride's family expressed their inability to fulfill this demand, the marriage was called off citing a bizarre excuse: that "the girl has sparse hair." In connection with this case, the police have registered a complaint against six individuals, including three women.
A wedding between a young woman from Mithansarai, Mustafapur, and a man from Chehrakala in Vaishali was called off by the groom's family a day after a lavish engagement ceremony on February 22, 2026. The bride's family alleges that they spent ₹14.15 lakh, including ₹4.37 lakh in gold jewelry, expensive clothing, ₹1.51 lakh in cash, and a ₹5.51 lakh advance for wedding expenses. The groom's sister, Seema Kumari, cited the bride's sparse hair and hair loss as the reason for canceling the wedding.
However, the bride's mother claims the groom's family fabricated this excuse after their demand for a WagonR car was unmet. The bride's family filed a police complaint at the Women's Police Station, stating that the families had met previously without any concerns about the bride's hair being raised, and that the allegations are baseless and intended to mentally harass the bride due to unmet dowry demands. Police have registered a case of fraud, assault, and dowry harassment, and City SP Mohibullah Ansari has stated that a thorough investigation is underway.
