Come December 20, for six days, the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts will play host to some specially curated events showcasing the best of Jammu & Kashmir to the world.

Urooj-e-Kashmir is expected to fuel the overall interest and curiosity that the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir has generated in recent times.

From Wazwan food delicacies, handicrafts, cultural shows, panel discussions to potential partnerships, the Urooj-e-Kashmir will present the best of Kashmir in a distilled form.

Kashmir's special relationship with Sufism, its unique art and handicrafts legacy and cherished place in Bollywood will be integrated in the festival presented by India Talent Treasure Trust. Among others to be featured at the event is Ustad Raza Ali Khan's sufi music vocal recital.

Hundred artisans from Jammu & Kashmir will participate in the event which is expected to draw a large number of visitors over the six-day span.

Offering something for everyone, the event is designed to provide opportunities for Kashmiri academic institutions, cultural organisations, artistes, businesses and entrepreneurial entities to collaborate with their counterparts in other parts of the country.

The organisers believe that such an event will go a long way in promoting better understanding and cooperation with the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The event enjoys the support of NGOs and business representative bodies such as Assocham, apart from the Union Ministries of Culture and Tourism.
