A massive fire erupted at a factory engaged in manufacturing plastic goods and footwear in Delhi’s Narela Industrial Area, triggering a large-scale emergency response. The fire broke out in the industrial area on Wednesday, April 22. As many as nineteen fire tenders were rushed to the location, where firefighters are actively working to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby units. A video shared by the news agency IANS showed thick plumes of smoke rising from the premises, raising concerns among local residents and workers in the vicinity. Authorities have cordoned off the area to ensure safety and facilitate rescue operations. Further information regarding the cause of the fire and the extent of damage is still awaited.
Ambulance staff member Chandrakesh stated that their team reached the site within 10 to 11 minutes of receiving the distress call. Upon arrival, they found the fire had already intensified significantly, engulfing large portions of the factory. He confirmed that, as of now, no injuries or fatalities have been reported, offering some relief amid the alarming situation. According to initial inputs, the affected unit is involved in the production of shoes and slippers. Emergency teams remain on standby while firefighting efforts continue, and officials are closely monitoring the situation for any further developments.
