Delhi Rains: City Wakes Up to Rainfall and Cool Breeze as National Capital Gets Relief From Scorching Heat

Delhi woke up to rainfall and a cool breeze on Wednesday morning, April 29, ending the heatwave conditions Delhiites had endured for a week. Early hours of rain with thunderstorms lashed several parts of the city, bringing much-needed relief from rising temperatures reaching 44 degrees Celsius.

Ahead of rainfall, thick cloud cover the skies of the National Capital. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to stay around 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum could be close to 27 degrees Celsius.

IMD issued a yellow alert for the day, predicting thunderstorms and gusty winds in parts of the region. The shift in weather is linked to a cyclonic circulation affecting nearby areas, including central Pakistan, northwest Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana. This system is gradually moving towards north and northeast India.
