Gujarat Bomb Threat: RTO Offices in Ahmedabad, Surat, Rajkot, and Vadodara Evacuated After Emails Trigger Panic; Driving Tests Halted
A series of bomb threats aimed at crucial government establishments has created panic across Gujarat, leading to the evacuation of Regional Transport Offices (RTOs) in several prominent cities. The situation disrupted essential public services, especially for citizens who had gathered for driving tests and official documentation. Officials confirmed that RTO facilities in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Vadodara, and Surat received threatening messages on Monday, prompting authorities to activate emergency safety measures. Police personnel, along with bomb disposal and detection squads, swiftly reached the locations and began thorough inspection drives after clearing all individuals from the premises as a precautionary step.

The sudden evacuation significantly impacted thousands of applicants who had scheduled appointments, particularly those awaiting driving track tests and documentation processes. Many individuals, who had waited for weeks, were asked to leave abruptly, causing inconvenience and anxiety. Several citizens voiced concerns over safety while also expressing frustration over the disruption of important tasks. In response to the threats, security arrangements have been intensified at key government buildings across the state. Meanwhile, cybercrime units have initiated investigations to trace the source of the threatening emails and calls linked to the incidents.
Although no explosive materials have been discovered so far, the recurring nature of such threats has raised serious concerns among security agencies in Gujarat. Authorities remain on high alert, acknowledging the increasing frequency of hoax threats and the strain they place on law enforcement resources and public services. Similar incidents were reported earlier in March, highlighting a worrying pattern. On March 12, the Ahmedabad Metropolitan Court received a bomb threat that led to a large-scale evacuation, with fire brigade teams conducting detailed searches before declaring the premises safe.
Just days prior, on March 9, multiple courts, including the Gujarat High Court, a consumer court, and a rural court in Navrangpura, were targeted with threatening emails. Following standard safety protocols, all lawyers, staff members, and visitors were evacuated immediately. Police teams sealed the affected areas and deployed bomb detection units to carry out comprehensive checks. Despite the alarming nature of these threats, no suspicious items were found in any of the locations, reinforcing concerns over the misuse of anonymous threats to disrupt public order and create fear among citizens.
