In a deeply disturbing incident from Gurugram, a 46-year-old air hostess has alleged that she was sexually assaulted while on ventilator support in the intensive care unit (ICU) of a private hospital. The matter came to light on April 13th, after the woman was discharged and confided in her husband, who subsequently alerted the police. Based on the air hostess's complaint, a case has been registered at the Sadar Police Station, and police have launched a comprehensive investigation. According to her police complaint, the woman had travelled to Gurugram for company training and was staying in a hotel. During her stay, her health deteriorated following a drowning incident, necessitating her admission to a private hospital for treatment. On April 5th, her husband transferred her to another hospital in Gurugram for further care. She was discharged on April 13th.
In her statement to the police, the victim alleged, "During the treatment, on April 6, she was on a ventilator, during which some staff of the hospital sexually assaulted her. At that time, she was on a ventilator and could not speak and was very scared. She was also unconscious at the time of the incident, and two nurses were also around her." After her discharge, the woman bravely recounted the alleged sexual assault to her husband, who immediately contacted the 112 police helpline and subsequently filed a formal complaint in the presence of a legal advisor. Gurugram police spokesman Sandeep Kumar stated, "Following a complaint filed by the victim, a case has been registered at the Sadar Police Station, Gurugram. A police team was rushed to the hospital to scan the duty chart and analyse the CCTV footage to identify the accused."
He further added, "The police team has taken further action in the case, and the statement of the accused has been recorded before the magistrate. The police team will soon identify the accused and arrest him accordingly."Despite repeated attempts, the hospital authorities have declined to comment on the serious allegations. When contacted, the hospital's security staff also denied any knowledge of the alleged incident. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to identify and apprehend the individual(s) responsible for this horrific act.
