TCS Nashik Case: Employees Targeted Based on Financial and Personal Struggles, Investigation Reveals

Financial profiling, offensive religious remarks, an HR official posing as sympathetic, and a pattern of gradual indoctrination have emerged as a disturbing modus operandi in the controversy surrounding alleged forced religious conversions and sexual assault at the Nashik branch of IT major Tata Consultancy Services. Police sources of NDTV revealed that complainants have described an organised network involving senior employees along with an HR manager. Investigations indicate that the accused, who were part of the training team, had access to detailed records of new recruits. They allegedly identified individuals who were financially vulnerable, dealing with family problems, or in urgent need of money, and systematically targeted them during the course of their employment.

According to the investigation, derogatory comments about Hindu deities were allegedly made during training sessions. When selected individuals reacted emotionally, HR manager Nida Khan, also named among the accused, would approach them under the guise of offering support and gradually gain their confidence. Over time, officials claim, these individuals were influenced to alter their lifestyle choices and manner of dressing. In one instance, a woman was reportedly affected to such an extent that she argued with her family and removed all images of Hindu gods from her home. So far, seven individuals have been detained in connection with the case, including Asif Ansari, Shafi Shaikh, Shahrukh Qureshi, Raza Memon, and Tausif Attar.

Police sources of NDTV further disclosed that an undercover operation played a key role in exposing the alleged conspiracy. Female constables, posing as housekeeping staff, were deployed inside the office premises to gather evidence. Since housekeeping services are managed by an external agency, this strategy allowed officers to enter without raising suspicion. Additionally, some male officers were also stationed on-site in disguise. Authorities stated that this covert operation was crucial in verifying the serious allegations and understanding the functioning of the suspected network operating within the organisation.

Investigators have also uncovered a WhatsApp group that was allegedly used by the accused to coordinate their activities and identify potential targets. Police sources of NDTV stated that discussions within the group included topics related to religion as well as internal workplace matters. Meanwhile, the Special Investigation Team handling the case is also examining serious allegations of sexual harassment and assault that have surfaced during the probe, indicating that the scope of the investigation extends beyond conversion claims to other grave offences as well.
