A partially burnt body of a woman was found in a forest near Dhaula Kuan village along the Chandigarh-Dehradun Highway in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district on Wednesday morning, police said. The body was discovered in the dense Karaunde Wali Ghati forest area near a police battalion camp under Paonta subdivision after local residents alerted authorities. Police teams rushed to the spot and began an investigation.

However, prima facie, investigators suspect that the body may have been burnt in an attempt to conceal the woman’s identity. Police said the cause of death is yet to be established. A case has been registered, and officials are probing the matter from all possible angles. Investigators also suspect that the body may have been transported to the secluded forest area in a vehicle.
