A son of a former Army personnel was held on Thursday for possessing fake identity card of additional superintendent of police and National Investigation Agency (NIA), police said.

A son of a former Army personnel was held on Thursday for possessing fake identity card of additional superintendent of police and National Investigation Agency (NIA), police said.

The accused has been identified as Karanti Guru Vinod Kumar Reddy, who is a native of Vaddemanu of YSR Cuddapah district.

Police have seized one dummy pistol, fake id card, rubber stamps, NIA diary, iPad, HP laptop, pair of DMS shoe, four Binoculars, HD projector, and six mobile phones, Commissioner of Hyderabad Police Anj Kumar said while speaking to .

"In 2016, Reddy had appeared for civil Services examinations but failed. He had made his parents and friends believe that he cleared the exam and created fake id card of an IPS Officer. He was later arrested by police, who seized one Indian Air force card and IPS card from his possession," she added.

"His behaviour hasn't changed. He was also arrested for possessing a fake id of an assistant commandant of NIA," the Police Commissioner added.

After being released from the jail in 2016, the accused had joined RC Reddy coaching centre.

He had even introduced himself as superintendent of police to retired Major Gedala Srinivasa Rao and became good friends with him. Rao filed a complaint at Shameerpet police station after some of his belongings went missing. Acting on his complaint, police apprehended him for possessing a fake id card.
