Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank will hold an important meeting with the Education Ministers and Secretaries of all the States and Union Territories on Sunday 23rd May.It is learned that in the meeting it will discuss the conduct of Class 12 board exams and entrance examinations for professional courses. Considering the prevalence of corona in the country, whether to take Class XII examination or not? The education department is facing issues regarding the upcoming exams. Therefore, an important decision would be taken in tomorrow's meeting. Apart from Class XII examinations, entrance examinations of other competitive examinations will also be discussed in the meeting.

Pokhriyal took to Twitter and wrote about tomorrow's meeting. He wrote,"The Hon’ble Prime Minister has desired that any decision affecting the careers of his beloved students has to be taken in wide consultations with all State Governments & Stakeholders. I recently held a meeting with the State Education Secretaries in this regards. (1/4)

The consultative process will be further strengthened through a high level meeting to be chaired by Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, also to be attended by my cabinet colleagues Smt.Smrit Iirani and Shri PrakashJavdekar. All the State Government Education Ministers and Secretaries have been requested to attend this meeting and to share their valuable views with regards to upcoming examinations. This virtual meeting will take place at 11.30 AM on 23rd May, 2021." He has also sought inputs from all the stakeholders - students, parents, teachers and others through Twitter.

Due to corona outbreak, Class XII examinations have not been held in the country yet. Also many competitive exams have been postponed. These important issues will be discussed in the meeting. Meanwhile, the Union Education Minister had earlier written to all the states and Union Territories saying that Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education and CBSE are exploring options regarding the conduct of examinations, keeping in mind the safety and security of the students and the teachers.
