Karnataka: In an tragic incident 44-year-old man was killed in a road accident while saving himself from stray dog attack. This incident occurred on Thursday in Belagavi district in Athani town after a stray dog chased his motorcycle. According to reports, he lost control of his motorcycle and rammed into the wall of a house.  Case came to light after investigators reviewed local CCTV footage.

At first crash was assumed as a regular accident but later footage revealed that deceased identified as Vishvanath Shirol lost his bike control while saving himself from dog bite. The bike crashed directly into a residential wall, causing fatal injuries.

The bereaved family stated that Shirol had a deep-seated fear of dogs due to a past bite from a stray. As the sole breadwinner, he is survived by his wife and three children. In related news, the Supreme Court on Tuesday criticized the central and state governments during a hearing on stray dogs, stating that compensation must be paid for every dog bite.

The court added that the governments have "failed miserably" to control the stray dog population, leading to an exponential increase in the problem.
