Noida: 32-Year Old Engineer Found Dead in OYO Hotel; Girlfriend Arrested In Suicide Probe

A 32-year-old engineer has been found dead in an OYO hotel in Noida Sector 27, prompting a police investigation. In a developing turn of events, authorities have detained the deceased's girlfriend for questioning. The woman, a resident of Mathura and a BBA student in Noida, reportedly had a two-year relationship with the engineer, Umesh, after meeting him on a dating app. The incident occurred on April 10th, when Umesh was discovered hanging in the hotel room. His girlfriend, identified as Iram, was present in the room along with their pet dog. Police are currently conducting inquiries to ascertain the circumstances surrounding Umesh's death. Umesh, the deceased, was originally from Hathras and was reportedly in the midst of divorce proceedings.

Adding a layer of complexity to the case, Umesh's brother has filed a formal complaint with the police. In his complaint, the brother alleges that Iram, along with an associate named Santosh, had been subjecting Umesh to both financial and mental harassment. He claims that Iram had extorted a significant sum of approximately ₹30 lakh from his brother during their relationship. The brother also mentioned the couple had travelled to Noida for their dog's treatment, where he believes a dispute may have occurred.

During initial questioning, Iram told police that she and Umesh met on a dating app two years ago and became close. She stated they were in Noida on April 10th for their dog's treatment, staying at the Vamson OYO Hotel. Following dinner, she claims an argument arose regarding the dog's medical expenses. Iram reported that she went to the washroom and upon her return, found Umesh had taken his own life. Police have taken Iram into custody and are actively questioning her. They have also seized the deceased's mobile phone as part of their investigation. Authorities are also in the process of locating Santosh, the individual named in the brother's complaint. The investigation is in its early stages, and further details are awaited as police work to determine the cause of Umesh's death and the validity of the allegations raised by his family.
