Odisha govt acts against 8 officials on charges of corruption

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday directed to permanently stop pension of six officials for their involvement in corruption.

Bhubaneswar, Feb 24 Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday directed to permanently stop pension of six officials for their involvement in corruption.

The Chief Minister also gave compulsory retirement to two other officials on graft charges, said a statement from CMO.

Since August 2019, 74 corrupt officials have been dismissed while 15 others have been given compulsory retirement, the statement said.

Pension of former chief engineer and managing director of Odisha Bridge and Construction Corporation Limited (OBCC) Sudhir Kumar Brajendra Narayan was permanently stopped.

Other corrupt officials whose pensions were permanently stopped are Arun Charan Parida, retired executive engineer-cum-senior project manager OBCC, Pramod Kumar Behera, retired assistant engineer of Rural Development department under Kamakshyanagar sub-division, Brajasundar Pattnaik, retired assistant engineer of Rural Development in Puri, Khageswar Swain, retired executive engineer under Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Bibekananda Mohanty, retired superintending engineer of Roads and Building Division in Sambalpur.

The officials who were given compulsory retirement are Revenue Inspector (RI) Iswari Prasad Purohit of Koksara Tehsil in Kalahandi and RI Arun Kumar Purohit of Biramaharajpur Tehsil in Sonepur district.

All the officials have been convicted by the Vigilance in corruption cases.
