Rajasthan Congress holds statewide protests over NEET-UG 2026 paper leak
Jaipur, May 13 Acting on the directives of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee (RPCC) President Govind Singh Dotasra, District Congress Committees across Rajasthan staged protests at the district headquarters on Wednesday against the alleged NEET-UG 2026 examination paper leak and subsequent cancellation of the examination.
During the protests, Congress workers demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the dissolution of the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Protesters also burned effigies of the Union Education Minister at several locations.
Addressing the issue, RPCC President Dotasra described the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) as one of the country's most important examinations and alleged that repeated paper leaks had severely undermined the future of more than 2.2 million students nationwide.
Dotasra claimed that despite allegations of irregularities in previous years, Union Education Minister Pradhan had continued to defend the National Testing Agency, the body responsible for conducting the examination.
He alleged that the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak had once again exposed serious shortcomings in the system.
"The Central government has failed to ensure transparency and accountability in one of the country's most crucial examinations," Dotasra said, adding that repeated leaks and cancellations had damaged the credibility of the examination process.
He also alleged that several examinations conducted by the NTA had faced controversies in recent years, but no substantial corrective measures had been taken by the Centre to reform the agency's functioning.
Dotasra also questioned the delay in registering an FIR after information regarding the alleged paper leak surfaced in Rajasthan.
He alleged that the matter was deliberately suppressed to protect the state government from embarrassment.
Calling for an impartial investigation, the Congress leader said the probe should either be conducted by a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) or monitored by a retired Supreme Court judge.
He asserted that a fair investigation was necessary to uncover the full extent of the alleged paper leak network and any political links associated with it.
He also alleged that individuals arrested in connection with the case had links with leaders associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that the "paper leak syndicate" was operating under political patronage.
"The BJP had repeatedly targeted the previous Congress government over paper leak issues, but is now avoiding a judicial inquiry into the current matter," he said.
Congress leaders said that the future of lakhs of students must not be compromised and demanded strict action against all those involved in the alleged paper leak.
