Four people were killed and several others were injured after a bus and tanker collided on the Rajkot-Chotila highway in Gujarat near Sangani in the early hours of Thursday, May 13. Following the collision, the bus caught fire and was engulfed in flames.
At least four people were burned alive in the accident, and their bodies were reportedly difficult to identify. Around 10 others were injured, several of whom are said to be in critical condition. According to reports, the bus was travelling from Ahmedabad to Rajkot at the time of the incident.
As per preliminary investigation, the accident took place between 1:30 am and 2:00 am. The tanker was carrying asphalt when one of its tyres allegedly burst, causing the vehicle to go out of control. A bus coming from behind then collided with the tanker, triggering a massive fire.

Officials suspect that a short circuit may have caused the fire to spread rapidly. The blaze engulfed the bus before several passengers could escape. While four people died in the incident, around 10 passengers sustained serious injuries. Other passengers managed to escape safely.
After receiving information about the accident, police and fire brigade teams rushed to the spot and launched rescue operations. Traffic movement on the highway was affected for some time following the incident.
The injured have been admitted to a hospital in Rajkot for treatment. Police have registered a case and further investigation is underway.
