The passengers at Delhi Airport's terminal one are frustrated, as the system faced a technical snag that disrupted the check-in process. The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) has issued a passenger advisory mentioning the disruption on the very first day of shifting operations from Terminal 2, which is shut for maintenance work.

Terminal 1 primarily handles low-cost domestic carriers and sees high passenger footfall, especially during peak hours. "We experienced a technical issue at T1 check-in. Our teams along with stakeholders are resolving it and operations are normalising. We regret the inconvenience caused," the airport said.

In a related update, IndiGo, one of the major airlines operating from Terminal 1, tweeted, "If you're at #DelhiT1, there could be longer wait times at check-in and baggage collection, following a baggage belt failure. Our teams are working closely with the airport to resolve this quickly. We regret this inconvenience and thank you for your patience."

Terminal 2 of Delhi Airport is temporarily shut; only IndiGo and Akasa Air were operating flights from Terminal 2, which has been in operation for nearly 40 years. Flight operations from T2 have now been completely shifted to T1.

Meanwhile, over 200 passengers bound for New Delhi and Mumbai were left waiting at the airport here after the flights operated by a private carrier to the respective cities were delayed. The flights were delayed due to a "technical snag.". The flights were scheduled to leave at 11.20 am (Delhi) and 11.40 am (Mumbai) and are expected to fly to their destinations after 4 pm.
