New Delhi, March 4 Former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi, after visiting a school in the riot-hit northeast Delhi here on Wednesday, said, "Violence benefits none. It only harms people and Bharat Mata."

Terming schools the future of the country, he said hatred and violence had razed one.

Rahul Gandhi who led a delegation of party MPs to the riot-hit Brijpuri, didn't cross the Brijpuri Bridge on the advice of top security officials. The Congress delegation left in two batches, one from Kerala House and other from the residence of Rahul Gandhi as the police permission was delayed.

The violence that started on February 23 claimed 47 lives, including security personnel.

Meanwhile, the Congress continued to protest in Parliament on Wednesday demanding discussion on the riots. Calling it "state sponsored", the Congress said it had decided not to let Parliament function until the government agreed to a debate and to fixe the accountability for the riots.

"We have been demanding debate on Delhi violence for the last three days. We want to know who is behind the violence and the reason that led to killing of around 50 people," said Naseer Hussain at the Parliament premises.

The government was not ready to fix the accountability of Delhi riots, neither the Prime Minister nor the Home Minister was ready to answer questions on the riots, he added.

Charging the government with being non-serious, he said it said in the House the debate could take place only after the return of normalcy and at the other hand spoke outside Parliament that the situation had become normal.

"What's the truth?. Both can't be true at the same time time," Hussain.
