With Rs 350 cr in surplus, NDMC presents annual budget

With an aim to become a benchmark among all global civic bodies, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) presented its budget estimates for 2020-21.

The civic body on Friday presented a surplus budget of Rs 355.16 crore. With estimated receipts at Rs 4,372.40 crore while the expenditure estimated during the year stood at 4,017.24 crore.

In the estimated budget for this year the richest civic body in the country aims to collect Rs 639.94 crore as licence fees this year as compared to Rs 599.59 crore collected last year.

Like previous two years, NDMC plans to emphasise more on the smart city initiatives in the area.

Installing of QR codes on house number plates to help keep a check on the public services provided in the house at regular intervals to QR codes on trees to keep a count and also to help people know everything about a particular tree and its benefits, the civic body aims to make take every possible thing online. With this the body is hoping to increase transparency and to reduce wastage of papers and resources.

"New Delhi Municipal Council intends to enhance the special status among all Urban Local Bodies in India and become a benchmark among other local bodies globally," NDMC Chairman Dharmendra said during his budget speech.

"NDMC is striving to enhance its own service levels to add to public satisfaction," he added.
