Woman WhatsApps photo of suicide bid to lover before ending life

A young women sent the photo of her bid to tie a noose around her neck to her lover over WhatsApp before taking her own life in West Bengal's Hooghly district, police and family sources said on Wednesday.

Kolkata, March 4 A young women sent the photo of her bid to tie a noose around her neck to her lover over WhatsApp before taking her own life in West Bengal's Hooghly district, police and family sources said on Wednesday.

Rima Das, a resident of Kotrong Colony market locality of Uttarpara, was declared dead at a local hospital on Tuesday evening.

Das's family members accused her paramour Panchanan Das of abetment to suicide following which local people vandalised his house. Panchanan has also been arrested.

According to the victim's family, Panchanan had come to their house to meet her, when she was alone in the house. She was found hanging in her room soon after he left.

A family member alleged that Panchanan always made monetary demands and would beat her up whenever she refused to give her money.

However, Panchanan's family alleged that the young woman took her life as her family was opposed to their relationship.
