New Delhi, Feb 20 On the occasion of UN World Day of Social Justice, Netizens across the globe joined hands to bat for equal rights and opportunities, and inclusive justice.

World Day of Social Justice is observed every year on February 20 since 2009, with an objective to put focus on social injustice across the world, and to press for improvements and solutions.

The theme for World Day of Social Justice 2020 is "Closing the Inequalities Gap to Achieve Social Justice".

United Nations tweeted: "Social justice is only possible when all barriers people face based on gender, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability are removed."

Taking to his Twitter handle, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres wrote: "A vicious circle of poverty and inequality continues to define the lives of millions. Breaking the cycle requires a fair globalization, with social justice for all as our purpose."

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights tweeted: "It's World Day of Social Justice! By closing the inequalities gap we can make big strides to advance #socialjustice. Our survey of people from different ethnic and minority backgrounds reveals how much work is still to be done."

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya wrote: "New India is built on the principles of social justice & equality for all! Modi Government is working tirelessly to register a uniform growth and increasing ease of living with the mantra 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas' and 'Integral Humanism'."

A user wrote: "Let's be committed to promoting social justice by minimising the differences & barriers based on religion, caste, race , gender or disability. Let's harness an atmosphere where everyone has an equal opportunity to grow & prosper."

Another wrote: "Today is #WorldDayofSocialJustice. By removing the barriers, people face due to gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability, we advance #socialjustice for all - benefiting everyone #WSJD."

An Indian Twitter user's post read: "As the world celebrates #WorldDayOfSocialJustice, I cannot be more proud to call myself a citizen of the Republic of India which the world's biggest democracy. We 1.3 billion Ind set an example for the world as far as social justice is concerned."

Last year, the theme was "If you want Peace and Development, Work for Social Justice".
