Navi Mumbai Crime: Three Injured In Violent Attack By History-Sheeter Over Minor Dispute In Vashi

Navi Mumbai: Three people got seriously injured in a trivial dispute in a middle of the busy road in Vashi. A habitual offender and his associates allegedly attack using chopper and iron rod and fled from the scene. Police have launched search operation in connection to this case. The injured person identified as Omkar Metkar , Pranav Khabde , and a cook working at a Chinese food stall.

All three victims are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. According to FPJ report, the attack took place on Tuesday May 12, 2026 in sector 3 at 11:15 pm in Vashi. Police report that a minor dispute near the vegetable market led to Deva Omprakash Singh attacking Omkar Metkar with a chopper, inflicting critical head injuries. When Pranav Khabde and a cook from a Chinese stall intervened, Singh and his associates assaulted them with a chopper and iron rods, causing serious injuries. Singh and Ritik Dhananjay Rai fled the scene, and the injured were taken to a nearby hospital. A police officer stated the attack, involving sharp weapons and iron rods, stemmed from a sudden escalation of the initial argument.

Vashi police have filed a case against the accused under sections 109 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for attempted murder and are searching for them. Police added that the prime accused, Deva Singh, is a repeat offender with multiple prior offenses at Vashi and Koparkhairane police stations. The investigation is ongoing.
