1 / 11Mumbai Police has revealed that businessman Raj Kundra has made over 100 porn movies in the past one-and-a-half-year and the overall electronic data runs into terabytes (TB).2 / 11Speaking on condition of anonymity, sources in the crime branch said they have recovered 'huge data' of porn movies during their raids at Raj Kundra's office in Andheri West, Mumbai.'A lot of data has been deleted and it will take time to retrieve it. The crime branch is taking the help of forensic experts to retrieve the data,' a source privy to the investigation said.3 / 11The police have seized the server and devices allegedly used to store this data. Police officials alleged Raj Kundra started making porn movies in August 2019 and earned crores through them. 'His app (HotShots) had nearly 20 lakh paid subscribers who had taken membership to watch porn. He was making a healthy profit from this large subscriber base. He made a mobile app to upload porn movies because it was more easily accessible than websites,' a police officer said.4 / 11Raj Kundra and another accused, Ryan Thorpe, are currently in police custody till July 27. According to a report in, Mid-Day Raj Kundra ran his adult film business via well established WhatsApp groups. 5 / 11 The reports adds, Kundra, had a legal team for copyrights to protect the porn films against piracy on Hotshots app. Kundra had also created three WhatsApp groups where he assigned tasks to the people. 6 / 11 The names of his WhatsApp groups were HS-account, HS-operation and HS-take down, said officers. In the HS-account group, he discussed content, subscriber, payment, transaction and porn business in relation to monetary profit.7 / 11In the HS-operation group, he discussed the kind of porn that was to be shot; how and where to shoot; whom to cast and their payment; editing of porn films; final content and final print. They used to send File Transfer Protocol or link to UK-based Viaan Industries Ltd, officers. 8 / 11The third group, HS-take down, was important as work related to monitoring of copyright and piracy was discussed here. If any of their porn movies on Hotshots app were found to be uploaded by any other porn sites or app, legal notice for blocking the content as well as a warning of legal action was sent.9 / 11Discussions were also held about demanding compensation from the website or app that lifted the content. A Crime Branch officer revealed to Mid-Day, “Investigation has revealed that Kundra used to handle work through WhatsApp groups as well.10 / 11The important fact is that he was the admin and operational head of all these three groups.” His business flourished massively during the lockdown last year and he Raj Kundra used to earn at least Rs 8 lakh a day. 11 / 11It is also alleged that, Kundra paid bribe of Rs 25 lakh to Crime Branch sleuths to avoid arrest in pornography case.
