Coronavirus: No touching of idols, no singing and no prasad at religious places from June 8

Religious sites in the containment zone will remain closed to the public as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Union Ministry of Health to curb the spread of Corona virus. But religious sites located outside the containment zone can be opened.

According to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), devotees will no longer receive offerings within the temples. Also Charanamrit will not be shared. Devotees going to the temple cannot touch the idols. Not only this, touching religious book or place of worship is also forbidden.

Crowds cannot enter religious sites. There must be a distance of more than 6 feet between the devotees standing in line to go inside the religious place.

If the devotees do not cover their face with face masks, they will not be allowed to enter the religious place. The SOP states that the elderly, the sick, pregnant women and children under the age of 10 are prohibited from visiting religious places.

According to the guidelines, religious sites will have separate entrances and exits. Also, devotees are advised to wash their hands and feet with soap before entering the shrine. As before, devotees do not have to pray in a religious place.

The Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) states that singing groups are not allowed in religious sites in view of the possible spread of corona virus infection, but instead recorded hymns may be played. Collective prayer should be avoided during this time.
