Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Update: Restrictions Imposed for Mahamarathon; Check Alternate Routes

Their will be temporary traffic restrictions have been imposed on some roads in the Sangvi area on Sunday (February 22) on the occasion of the 'Lokmat Mahamarathon 2026' competition organized by Lokmat. All types of vehicles (except essential services) will be banned from entering between Sangvi Phata and Rajiv Gandhi Bridge from 5 am to 10 am.

Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Branch Deputy Commissioner of Police Vivek Patil has given orders in this regard. The 'Lokmat Mahamarathon 2026' competition has been organized from Savitribai Phule Pune University on Sunday (February 22) at 5 am. The competition will be held in various groups such as 3, 5, 10 and 21 kilometers.

The marathon route enters the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate from Pune via Rajiv Gandhi Bridge, returning via the BRT route from Sangvi Phata, Rakshak Chowk, Y Junction, Jagtap Dairy Chowk, and Kalewadi Phata-Santosh Nagar, making a U-turn near Santosh Mangal Office at Dange Chowk. Sangvi Traffic Department's Senior Police Inspector Sudam Pachorkar advises citizens and drivers to use alternative routes from 5 am to 10 am on Sunday to avoid traffic congestion and ensure participant safety. Wakad Traffic Department's Senior Police Inspector Bapu Dhere requests driver cooperation as traffic will be temporarily halted at Rakshak Chowk, Jagtap Dairy Chowk, and Kalewadi Phata Chowk while competitors pass through.

Traffic changes made under Sangvi Traffic Department

Due to the competition, all vehicles traveling from Sangvi Phata to Rajiv Gandhi Bridge are prohibited. Traffic is diverted from Dhore Patil underpass at Sangvi Phata via D-Mart (Mahadji Shinde Road). These traffic changes are managed by the Sangvi Traffic Department. The traffic police are supported by enhanced security from the Sangvi, Wakad, and Kalewadi police stations, as well as additional officers from the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.
