Pune Horror: Father Kills 3-Year-Old Daughter, Attempts to Murder Son; Accused Arrested

A heart-wrenching incident of crime has come to light in which a father, driven to despair by family disputes and his wife leaving home, murdered his own young daughter. This shocking event unfolded in the Santwadi area, situated along the Pune-Nashik Highway, and has sparked an atmosphere of outrage throughout the entire locality.

According to information provided by the police, Sagar Sadashiv Shinde has been arrested by the Alephata Police Station in connection with this case. The accused's wife had left their home approximately six months ago. Subsequently, the accused was under significant mental stress while raising their two young children. Preliminary investigations have revealed that it was this very reason that drove him to take such an extreme step.

On May 5th, Sagar Shinde took his son, Aryan, and three-and-a-half-year-old daughter, Harshada, to a secluded area in Santwadi forest under the guise of a walk. There, he attempted to strangle Aryan, abandoning him unconscious and presumed dead. He then strangled Harshada, concealing her body in nearby bushes.

After Aryan was found abandoned on Wednesday morning, police investigations led to Shinde, who initially misled authorities but confessed after interrogation. Harshada's body was recovered and sent for post-mortem. Assistant Police Inspector Amol Panhalkar is leading the ongoing investigation, and Shinde faces charges of murder and attempted murder under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
