Pune News: Vande Bharat Express Halted Due to Technical Malfunction, Resumes After 3 Hours
Pune: The high-speed Vande Bharat Express, operating on the Pune-Hubballi route, was forced to come to a sudden halt on Monday afternoon (May 4) after a carbon strip in its pantograph snapped. However, thanks to the prompt response of the railway administration, a potential major mishap was averted, and the train resumed its journey after a delay of three hours. Passengers had to endure some inconvenience during this incident.
According to reports, the train which had departed from Pune station came to a standstill in a remote, desolate area near Datewadi, situated between Jejuri and Walhe. The sudden halt created an atmosphere of confusion among the passengers for a while. Unaware of the cause of the stoppage, many passengers disembarked from the train and gathered towards the front of the locomotive.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the overhead power supply was interrupted because the carbon strip on the train's pantograph had broken. Upon receiving news of the incident, a technical team from the railways immediately rushed to the spot. Prioritizing passenger safety, all necessary precautions were taken. Working on a war footing, the technical staff replaced the defective pantograph and installed a new assembly. After nearly three hours of concerted effort, the team succeeded in getting the train operational again. The train was then cautiously allowed to proceed on its journey.
