Pune Plane Crash: Training Aircraft Crashes Near Baramati Months After Ajit Pawar Plane Accident

A two-seater aircraft crashed near Baramati in Pune district on Wednesday morning, May 13, a month after former Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar's plane crash. According to Baramati Police, the aircraft crash landed few minutes after taking off from the aviation academy at the airport. 

The small plane belongs to the Redbird Aviation training academy, said a police officer. The two-seater plane crashed in a field near Baramati airport at around 8.30 am on Wednesday, confirmed Shivaji Taware, Director, Baramati Airport, reported The Indian Express. No casualties have been reported in the incident. The cause of the crash is yet to be known.

Meanwhile, the aircraft identified as Learjet 45, with a registration number VT-SSK operated by VSR Ventures Pvt Ltd, was operating a flight from Mumbai to Baramati on the morning of January 28, killing four people, including Ajit Pawar.

The crash has been investigated by the Aircraft Accident Investigation (AAIB) of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA). AAIB submitted its preliminary report about the accident on February 28. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra CID is conducting an inquiry into a case of Accidental Deaths Report (ADR) that has been registered with the Pune Rural police as a procedure after any accident that involves fatalities.
