Pune City Police has issued a "Leave India Notice" to three American nationals for promoting Christianity after they allegedly found they were promoting Christianity. Police asked them to fly back by May 10 for their illegal activities as per the visa category.

According to police, three US nationals had entered India between April 19 and April 21 on tourist visas. The additional commissioner of Pune police said the trio was distributing religious materials and talking to locals about their faith during their stay.

Police, after receiving information, set up an enquiry and found that they had allegedly violated visa conditions by giving religious lectures on a tourist visa.

The incident came to light on April 27, when the trio was found distributing pamphlets in the Shukrawar Peth area. Pamphlets were printed in multiple languages, including English, Hindi and Marathi. After locals approached the police, the three foreigners were subsequently brought to a local police station, where their travel documents were checked. After the police search, they found large numbers of printed materials.

A further enquiry by the Foreigners Registration Office of Pune Police found that the three had allegedly breached the conditions of their tourist visas.
