Pune Traffic Update: Diversions Announced Near Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple Ahead of Akshay Tritiya Rush
In view of the expected surge in devotees during the festivals of Akshay Tritiya and the Mango Festival, the city traffic department has implemented a comprehensive traffic management plan in central areas. A significant rise in footfall is anticipated, especially around the famous Shrimant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganpati Temple, which remains a major attraction during festive occasions. Considering the situation, authorities have decided to regulate vehicular movement to prevent congestion and ensure public safety. Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Himmat Jadhav stated that special arrangements have been put in place to handle the situation efficiently and avoid inconvenience to citizens visiting the area.
As part of the traffic management measures, several key routes will witness diversions starting from 7 am on Sunday, April 19, and will remain in effect until the crowd reduces. Traffic movement on Shivaji Road, Laxmi Road, and nearby stretches will be restricted for general vehicles. Except for essential services, PMPML buses, private four-wheelers, and heavy vehicles will be diverted to alternate routes. Officials have urged commuters to cooperate with authorities and plan their journeys accordingly. The aim of these restrictions is to minimize traffic congestion and maintain smooth movement in high-density areas during peak festive hours.
According to the revised traffic plan, buses heading towards Swargate via Shivaji Road will be rerouted from S. G. Barve Chowk through Jangli Maharaj Road. Similarly, buses bound for Pune Municipal Corporation will operate via Jangli Maharaj Road and Jhansi Rani Chowk. Traffic moving from Appa Balwant Chowk towards Budhwar Chowk will remain closed and will instead be diverted through Bajirao Road. Additionally, certain bus routes heading towards Ganesh Road have also been modified, with authorities directing vehicles to use internal alternative roads. Citizens are advised to follow updated routes and traffic guidelines to avoid delays and ensure a hassle-free commute.
