Water supply has been disrupted in central Pune since Friday morning, April 24. Earlier, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) had announced that there would be a water cut on Thursday (April 23) and that supply would resume on Friday morning at low pressure. However, residents are complaining that there has been no water supply at all since this morning.
Work is underway to install meters on the pipeline at the Padmavati Pumping Station, which draws water from the Khadakwasla Dam. Due to this work, the water supply has been delayed. According to preliminary information, water is expected to be restored between 12 noon and 1 pm. However, due to repair work being carried out at nearly 30 locations across the city, both major and minor pipelines remain empty.
As there was no water supply throughout Thursday, household water reserves are likely to be finished. Residents have continued to face hardship due to the shortage since morning. When contacted, officials of the Municipal Corporation were not reachable. Typically, supply is restored by 7-8 am, but today, poor planning has caused inconvenience to residents. Many are struggling as they have to leave for work but have no water at home.
